On 15th Sep 2020 FSSAI has released an Advisory to all the Food Business Operators (FBOs) about the liability and consequences of providing misleading/ false information to the food safety authorities. The stakeholders will no longer be able to defend themselves on account of lack of due diligence or knowledge of their employees or agent or consultant. FBOs have to ensure that the no information submitted by them or their representatives is false. Doing so may attract penalty of up to Rs. 2 Lakhs and imprisonment of up to 3 months.
