On November 16th 2021, FSSAI published a draft regulation called the Food Safety and Standards (Genetically Modified or Engineered Foods) Regulations, 2021.This regulation can be applied to Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) or Genetically Engineered Organisms (GEOs) or Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) intended for direct use as food or for processing and Food or Processed food containing Genetically Modified ingredients produced from but not containing LMOs or GEOs or GMOs.
Objections and suggestions can be submitted within 60 days from the date of publication.
