Through a letter dated 17th December 2021, FSSAI has clarified that the food products in which edible oils and fats are used as an ingredient shall not contain industrial trans fatty acids more than 2% by weight, which will be effective from Jan 1st 2022 and FSSAI has requested all the commissioners of Food Safety of States/ UTs and Central Licensing Authorities to carry out a inspection drive of all such units which are licensed for manufacture/processing of vegetable oils/fats.
