World Food Safety Day 2022: Activities
“Safe Food , Better Health”
World Food Safety Day (WFSD) is celebrated on 7 June 2022 with an aim to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect, and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism, and sustainable development. This year’s theme, ‘Safe food, Better Health’, by WHO draws attention and mobilizes action to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks and improve human health. The idea of World Food Safety Day is to spread awareness about the topic, and we are doing our bit to spread the word to the world. To mark the day, we are conducting various activities in the week of 6th to 10th June. Do register and participate in the events. Also help us spread the word.
Creating Awareness against use of Newspaper
In India, newspaper is commonly used to package food by street food vendors as well as the small eateries. We are launching our digital marketing campaign on the topic to create awareness both amongst the vendors as well as the consumers on why it is hazardous to use newspaper.

Food Safety Conversation: Beyond Shawarma
Our food safety conversation on the 7th will focus on ensuring safer food for better health in the context of street food vending setups and how to ensure we reduce risks and hazards.
You can register for the webinar here. The topic of discussion was “Beyond Shawarma; Safer Food, Better Health” talking about the topic will be some eminent panelists from the academia, industry and regulatory bodies
The conversation will be hosted by Surabhi Soral, Head of Regulatory at Food Safety Works. The event will be conducted as a 90minutes webinar and broadcast live on our YouTube channel.
Food Safety Quiz
The food safety quiz will be conducted on the 8th of June and is designed specifically for students. Questions will cover general hygiene practices, hazards, regulations, and allergens. The live online quiz administered through our Academy Portal. Students can register for the quiz here.
The winners will be announced on the 9th of June. All the winners receive a certificate and a goodie commemorating the the World Food Safety Day.
Free Basic Training on GMP/GHP in Catering
A free FoSTac: Basic Catering training will be conducted on the 9th of June. The training will be delivered by Nameeta Garg who is a Senior Consultant at Food Safety Works, based out of Delhi/NCR and has over 20 years of industry experience. Participants who attended and cleared the assessment were awarded certificates issued by FoSTaC (FSSAI). NXG Food Safety Works is a registered FoSTac training partner and the largest based out of Karnataka, India.
