On 7th July 2022, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change issued a clarification with respect to plastic packaging and banned single use plastic items. This has reference to the use of plastic cups or trays as plastic packaging in Dairy/Food/Beverage/Bakery industries and their exclusion from single use plastic ban effective from 1st July, 2022. Also, the producers of the plastic cups and trays for use as rigid packaging material must be registered under EPR Guidelines.
