FSSAI emphasizes on measures to address Food poisoning issue among children

On 30th September 2022, concerning the rise in food poisoning cases among children, FSSAI issued a direction that emphasized on the measures to ensure safe preparation and handling of mid-day meals for children across the country. As per the direction, emphasis was placed on FSSAI License/ Registration of FBOs including Schools, NGOs, etc, FoSTaC Training for Food Handlers including Cooks, Helpers, and regular sampling of raw materials and freshly cooked foods by the FSOs. It is also stated that food poisoning incidents among children consuming mid-day meals should be notified to FSSAI, Headquarters, and National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)/ Local Health Authorities.
