On 4th October 2022, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public distribution issued a gazette notification on Legal Metrology (General) Amendment Rules, 2022. As per the amendment, the companies having different establishments/ branches/ units in any establishment/branch can now nominate an officer who has the authority and responsibility for the operations and activities of the establishments/branches/units and the notices for violation done by establishments/ branches/ units will be issued to him, and not to the Directors who are not responsible for the violation of establishment/branch/unit.
