On 17th October 2022, FSSAI issued an order regarding the restriction of entry of certain high-risk food items through the ports. To build a robust import control system with efficient monitoring & traceability, it has been decided that the import of certain high-risk products namely 1) Milk and Milk products, 2) Egg powder, 3) Meat and Meat products including Poultry, Fish & their products, 4) Foods for Infant Nutrition/ Infant Foods, 5) Nutraceuticals, Health Supplements, Foods for Dietary uses, Probiotic and Prebiotic foods, Foods for Special Medical Purposes, shall be permitted through 61 ports only, which are directly manned and managed by FSSAI officials. This order will be effective from 1st February 2023.
Suggestions/comments are invited from all stakeholders in this regard, within 30 days from the date of publication of this order.
