On 24th July 2023, FSSAI published a report regarding vegetables and fruits being sold containing pesticides and harmful chemicals in high doses, in major cities across India. NHRC has taken action to minimize the excess use of pesticides by farmers and promote alternate cultivation systems. Strict vigilance measures are to be enforced on FBOs who are into manufacturing / re-packing fresh/surface-treated/ minimally processed fruits & vegetables.
