On 27th October 2022, FSSAI published a gazette notification of Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Second Amendment Regulations, 2022. The amendment is regarding the inclusion of details regarding “Enzymes derived from Genetically Modified Microorganisms” in Appendix C under the heading “Use of Processing Aids in Food products”. The information regarding the name of the enzyme, production organism, functional purpose, indicative food uses & residual level are provided in a table.
