FSSAI: Clarification regarding the procedure of issuance of notices under FSS Act 2006

On 7th March 2022, FSSAI issued clarification regarding the decision of the 33rd Central Advisory Committee in respect of the procedure for issuance of Notices under Section-32 of the FSS Act, 2006. It was clarified that for issuance of notices, the lifting, and analysis of food samples are not mandatory on grounds of non-compliant product label/ advertisement when the composition of said product is not under challenge and FBOs may take a reasonable time to modify their product labels/ advertisements to adhere to relevant regulatory provisions.
