On 6th September, FSSAI published a draft regulation. These regulations may be called the Food Safety and Standards (Labeling and Display) Amendment Regulations, 2021.
The major amendments made are:
- The declaration regarding the warning statement for pan masala must cover 50% of the front-of-pack of the label.
- New sub-regulation has been inserted, namely 2.6 – ‘Labeling of various types of bread’, in which the regulator has specified the name of the Specialty Ingredient and the Minimum amount as % of Flour in various types of bread.
