While hiring from campuses, we realized how little the students knew about Food Safety. As part of developing the ecosystem, our Managing Director Sarika Agarwal delivered a guest lecture at Jain University last week in a student/industry interaction program organized by Department of Food Technology. The talk gave an inside view of what it means to implement the food safety standards, right from design, to implementation, to monitoring.
About the session, Sarika highlighted that it is always a pleasure to interact with students who are budding with ideas and opinions. To spread the knowledge amongst the right age who are keen to learn, creating awareness to make a difference.
The session started with making everyone aware about the difference in food quality vs food safety. Requirements for quality are driven by customer’s requirements but safety is a mandate and must be followed and it is important everyone understand that. She also talked about the food safety laws and rules which need to be followed at every process step in a food industry. This gave the students an insight into the regulations which needs to be kept track of during processing and production of food.
The session was followed by a very interactive question and answer session which went way past its scheduled time. As per the feedback received from the students, this was the most interactive session they had ever attended and they were happy they attended this one.
Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one. The expert in anything was once a beginner. We hope the students will go out into the industry better informed and more knowledgeable about the subject.
