“Safe food for the world”

Safe Food for the World is our initiative to spread the message on making safe food available to the people. This will be a week long campaign from 12th October to 16th October, to create awareness about the same through various activities that address the different stakeholders who can make this happen. This is also a critical week which includes the World Standards Day, Global Handwashing Day and World Food Day and the activities are themed around these.

We start on the 12th with a free FoSTac: Basic Catering training for the food handlers. This is a 3.5 hour training as per the FSSAI norms. During the training the food handlers get to know about the various aspects of food safety and their role in ensuring that the same for their customers. After completion of the training and if they pass the test, they will receive a certificate from FSSAI.

Next on the 13th with have the 3 hours dual track discussion on Careers in Food Safety where participants get an opportunity to hear from and talk to 5 successful industry experts who have had successful careers in Food Safety in diverse roles like Food Safety Management Systems, Corporate Quality & Safety, Food Biochemistry, R&D and regulatory. On the 14th, which is World Standards Day,  we are organizing our Food Safety Conversation titled Standards for Ensuring Food Safety. In the 90 minute panel discussion we discuss with prominent industry leaders about what the standards have to offer and why they are critical to food safety and how the Indian food industry is adopting these to make themselves globally competitive. Also, all the courses for October from Food Safety Works Academy are available to purchase for a discounted price in a package. October will be a busy month for those of you who are looking to learn about ISO2200, FSSC 22000, or HACCP.

To celebrate the Global Handwashing Day on the 15th, we will be distributing free hand hygiene posters to restaurants around Bangalore to help them understand the importance of hand hygiene and the right process to wash their hands. Finally 16th is World Food Day and here we want to get the schools involved in creating the awareness on our food systems. Our Actions are our future and it is important that our next generation understands this for a better future. We will be conducting a poster contest for schools students across the country to participate in and the winners of the contest will be announced on the 16th. You can register for the contest here.
